Judge Says Uber, Lyft Drivers are Employees

Uber and Lyft will have to reclassify their California drivers as employees rather than independent contractors, a judge has ruled. The preliminary injunction — which the ride-hailing companies are expected to appeal — is a blow to Uber and Lyft as they face increasing pressure to change their business models in certain states.
