Kimberly Guilfoyle Is Trump’s Latest Nominee Who Was Accused of Sexual Misconduct
Kimberly Guilfoyle, President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to be America’s envoy to Greece, is the latest of his incoming proposed nominees with a history of sexual misconduct allegations.
Guilfoyle, a former Fox News host, was accused of sexually harassing an assistant at the network, which the New Yorker reported in 2020 resulted in an out-of-court settlement upward of four million dollars.
Guilfoyle denied the allegations at the time of the report, telling the magazine: “I have never engaged in any workplace misconduct of any kind. During my career, I have served as a mentor to countless women, with many of whom I remain exceptionally close to this day.”
In 2018, the assistant—who worked under Guilfoyle—submitted a draft complaint to Fox executives that accused the former prosecutor of a litany of misconduct allegations.
Most striking among them were the claims that Guilfoyle required the woman to work from her home, where she allegedly exposed herself and showed the assistant pictures of the genitals of men she had slept with.
The woman also alleged Guilfoyle talked at length about her sexual exploits, once demanded a massage on her exposed thighs, and encouraged her to acquiesce to another Fox employee’s demands for sexual favors. She claimed the former host advised her to sleep with wealthy men and “asked her to critique her naked body,” according to The New Yorker.
The magazine said Fox News forced Guilfoyle out in July 2018, despite her public statements that she left voluntarily, and that after she left the network paid out the multi-million dollar settlement to the assistant, who no longer works there.
The Trump transition team did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
The assistant’s draft complaint—which was never filed in court—against Guilfoyle came at a difficult time for Fox News.
Two years earlier, its former chairman and CEO Roger Ailes resigned amid a flurry of allegations that he sexually harassed the network’s female employees, including Gretchen Carlson, Megyn Kelly, and Andrea Tantaros.
Trump announced late Tuesday evening that he plans to nominate Guilfoyle as ambassador to Greece, amid reports her engagement to his son Don Jr. has collapsed. Trump’s eldest child has been seen out on the town in Palm Beach with socialite Bettina Anderson.
Meanwhile, one of Trump’s most prominent proposed nominees—his defense secretary pick Pete Hegseth—has had to do damage control on Capitol Hill after it emerged that a woman alleged he sexually assaulted her in a hotel room in 2017.
Hegseth denies the allegation, as well as other claims that he oversaw a sexist and toxic workplace at a veterans’ organization he led.
Another of Trump’s cabinet picks, former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), had to withdraw from consideration amid allegations he had sex with a 17-year-old girl, paid for sex, and took illegal drugs. His alleged behavior was the subject of a House Ethics Committee probe, which has not been released, and a Justice Department investigation, which resulted in no charges.
Gaetz denies the allegations.
Trump himself has been accused of sexual misconduct by over two dozen women. He denies all wrongdoing.
