I admire Joe Jamail, not just because he recovered billions for his clients but because he illustrates the idea of getting there by trying cases instead of settling. He serves as a reminder that there’s always an alternative to accepting a lowball settlement offer.

My first boss and mentor, the late Bob Alton, a prominent Alabama trial lawyer.
