Charles Foster Named Vice Dean of Consular Corps of Houston

HOUSTON – March 1, 2018 – Charles Foster, founder and chairman of immigration law firm, Foster LLP, will today be named vice dean of the Consular Corps of Houston. Mr. Foster will officially receive the honor and be appointed vice dean by the Consular Corps of Houston’s executive committee at the Consular Corps’ meeting on March 1, 2018.

“I’m honored to serve in this important position, the highest a non-career diplomat can hold,” said Foster. “I am committed to serving the international community and to advocating for maintaining our country’s and state’s global business, cultural and educational ties.”

Mr. Foster is a recipient of innumerable awards and is an esteemed business and community leader in the Houston area. He has been at the forefront of immigration policy issues for more than 40 years and is recognized as a national expert in U.S. immigration law. Mr. Foster served as senior policy advisor to former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. Additionally, he has served as the Honorary Consul General of the Kingdom of Thailand for 20 years and has received four Royal Decorations from His Majesty, the King in recognition of his services to the Kingdom, one of them being the highest level of recognition given to an American citizen.

Houston houses the third largest Consular Corps in the nation with approximately 93 countries accredited by the U.S. Department of State. Consular officials develop economic, commercial, scientific and cultural relations between the countries they represent and the area in which they serve. The Consulate General’s jurisdiction in Houston frequently covers several states, as Houston is the center for Consular Corps representation in the southern part of the country and is one of the largest visa issuing posts for the Kingdom of Thailand in the United States.
