Rudy Giuliani Makes Big Confession About Trump Campaign In Bankruptcy Court

Rudy Giuliani, former Mayor of New York City and personal attorney for Donald Trump’s 2020 election campaign has publicly claimed that he is owed approximately $2 million in unpaid legal fees by the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee (RNC). These allegations were brought forth during a federal bankruptcy court hearing in Manhattan, where Giuliani is grappling with financial turmoil following a series of legal setbacks.

In a narrative that could have been lifted from a political thriller, Giuliani detailed his financial distress, which was exacerbated by a $148 million defamation judgment against him. This judgment arose from his false accusations of election fraud against two Georgia election workers, a story that became a lynchpin in his and Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election results.

Giuliani stated that Trump had tasked him with leading the campaign’s legal efforts following the election loss to President Biden. “Once I took over, it was my understanding that I would be paid by the campaign for my legal work and my expenses to be paid,” Giuliani told the court. The narrative took a twist when he revealed, “When we submitted the invoice for payment, they just paid the expenses. Not all but most. They never paid the legal fees.”

In a scene outside the courthouse, Giuliani presented a stoic front, telling reporters he has “nothing to hide.” Yet, within the courtroom walls, the details of his financial demise were laid bare. His claim of being owed $2 million is directed at the Trump campaign and the RNC.

Further punctuating his financial woes, Giuliani explained that a major hit to his income came after his license to practice law was suspended in the wake of the January 6 Capitol attack. His situation led to a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, revealing liabilities ranging up to $500 million against assets capped at a mere $10 million.

Ted Goodman, an adviser for Giuliani, wrote in a statement that the former New York mayor has “earned everything he has in life through honest hard work.”He said, “The American people are waking up to the abhorrent weaponization of our justice system for partisan political gain, and the fact that we are here today is just another example of this great injustice.” Despite these claims, Giuliani’s financial disclosures paint a picture of personal financial mismanagement as well, including substantial debts to golf clubs, with $647 owed to Trump International Golf Club itself.

This financial debacle unfolds as Rudy Giuliani’s once-stellar reputation continues to tarnish, and his relationship with his former ally, Donald Trump, appears increasingly fraught.
