Cher’s Son Faces Multiple Criminal Charges

Elijah Blue Allman — the 49-year-old son of music icon Cher and the late rock musician Gregg Allman — was arrested at an elite private school in Concord, New Hampshire on Friday evening, Feb. 27, 2026, after police responded to reports of a disturbance on campus. Authorities say he was acting belligerently and causing a disruption inside the school’s dining hall, despite having no known connection to the institution.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. local time at St. Paul’s School, a prestigious college-prep boarding school, when students were leaving the dining area. Allman allegedly entered the building and behaved in ways that drew attention from students and staff. School officials later told parents that Allman had arrived on campus in a vehicle driven by someone else and then claimed he was a “prospective parent” — a statement that school authorities say was false, as Allman has no known children and no affiliation with the school.

According to local police and school accounts, Allman smoked a cigarette inside the dining hall and became agitated when students began noticing and following him. At one point, he allegedly used a cane to poke at a student and pushed a faculty member during the confrontation, actions that contributed to the escalation of the incident.

When campus security and Concord police arrived, they found the scene tense but were able to take Allman into custody without reported physical force. He was charged with multiple misdemeanors, including:

  • Two counts of simple assault

  • Criminal trespass

  • Criminal threatening

  • Disorderly conduct

Disorderly conduct in New Hampshire is illegal but does not qualify as a criminal charge separate from the misdemeanors overall. After being booked at Merrimack County Jail, Allman was released on personal recognizance bail, meaning he did not have to post money but must appear at future court hearings. An arraignment has been scheduled for April 20 in Concord District Court for the school-related incident.

This incident has drawn wide media attention partly because of Allman’s high-profile family and partly due to a broader pattern of public legal and personal challenges he has faced over the years. In June 2025, Allman was hospitalized in California after authorities responded to a report of him acting erratically in a residence. Deputies found drugs inside the home and he was transported to a medical facility for evaluation.

In late 2023, Cher filed a petition to establish a temporary conservatorship over Allman’s estate, arguing that he was “substantially unable to manage his financial resources” due to ongoing mental health and substance-abuse issues. That petition was later voluntarily dismissed in September 2024 following a private agreement between mother and son.

Just days after his February 27 arrest at St. Paul’s, Allman was detained again on March 1, 2026 in Windham, New Hampshire, after allegedly breaking into a private residence. According to the Windham Police Department, officers responded to a report of forced entry into a home, where Allman was found sitting inside on a couch smoking a cigarette. He told police he believed he had permission to enter, a claim denied by the homeowners. In this second incident, Allman was charged with felony burglary, two counts of criminal mischief, and breach of bail because he was already out on release from the prior arrest. Property damage was estimated at more than $1,000.

Because of that second arrest, Allman is also scheduled for arraignment on March 11 at Salem District Court on the new charges.

Despite the troubling run of incidents, there has been no public comment from Cher regarding this latest arrest, and school officials at St. Paul’s have emphasized that they intend to reevaluate campus safety and visitor protocols following the event. The school said the situation would not have attracted widespread attention if not for Allman’s celebrity status.
